Dawei Xu was born in Nanchang, a small city in Southern China. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in 2002 and then went on to study further at Collage of Fine Arts (UNSW), completing a Master of Design in 2005. He now works as an art tutor and full time illustrator and works frequently with ink and acrylic paint on paper to produce his designs.

Dawei Xu’s artwork ‘Big Toy’ was a winner in the 2014 Platform Urban Art Prize, a local public art competition run by Hurstville City Council encouraging artists to create high quality, thought provoking and entertaining urban artworks representing city life in all its glory or grime.
