Currently on display at Hurstville Museum & Gallery is the exhibition USE. This exhibition features exquisitely crafted contemporary jewellery and small objects by seventeen artists from the Jewellers and Metalsmiths Group of Australia (Queensland Chapter), toured by Museums & Galleries Queensland.

Rebecca Ward is one of the artists featured in USE. Rebecca creates her works in a solar-powered studio located on Stoney Edge Nature Refuge at the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. It is this location surrounded by nature, which inspires her art works, and the jewellery she creates for her brand Stick + Stone. The brand name was inspired by the endless possibilities those two materials hold and she describes them as the “building blocks of our physical environment”.

Rebecca hopes that her jewellery will spread a message of sustainability and ignite conversations regarding how we use materials; particularly the cycle in which we use items from “tools, consumables, symbols, adornments” until they are regarded as rubbish.

Rebecca conducts workshops sharing her skills with individuals, groups and children.
